FAQ

What does "Djehooty" mean?

The meaning of the name is explained on the Credits page.

Is it possible to use Djehooty on Windows or macOS?

In theory, yes: Djehooty can be used on these platforms through the Docker image, and distribution via a Wails application could be considered in the future. However, no official support is currently planned for Windows or macOS, as the focus is on free software and open ecosystems. Nevertheless, I remain open to any contributions aimed at facilitating Djehooty installation on these systems.

Is there documentation to get started?

Yes, check out the Getting Started section to install and use Djehooty.

Is Djehooty on social media?

Djehooty is not present on Twitter or Facebook, but you can follow us on Mastodon.

Who develops Djehooty?

See the Credits page for more information about the project contributors.

Can Djehooty be hosted on a server?

Yes, hosting via Docker is possible. However, development currently focuses on the local version. I do not recommend server installation at the moment, as no security measures have been implemented yet. This feature will be developed later.

How can I contribute to the project?

Where can I report a bug or suggest an improvement?

Are my data private and secure?

Djehooty stores all your data locally on your machine in the User Directory folder: no information is sent to third-party servers. Privacy and sovereignty of your archives are among the project's priorities.

Is the application accessible to people with disabilities?

Accessibility is one of Djehooty's core values. The interface aims to comply with digital accessibility standards. Your feedback is valuable to continue improving this aspect.

Can I import/export my data from/to other software?

Currently, Djehooty does not allow importing or exporting GEDCOM files. However, this is planned in our roadmap.
